GRalley Overview
The Edgewater neighborhood comes alive for our fourth
annual, all-ages street festival in the heart of Chicago's North Side. This
one-day event features an exciting line-up of live music, beer gardens, food
tents, a Green Pavilion featuring exhibits and ideas on how to lower your
carbon footprint, a raffle and silent auction and, last but not least, a Kid's
Corner featuring fun games and other exciting child-related activities. In
other words, plenty of entertainment for adults and children, both day and
night, all executed responsibly, with an eye towards low environmental impact.

How Many People Are
Expected to Attend?
We expect approximately 6,000 paying attendees throughout
the 10-hour event.
Why Call It GRalley?
Hosted by the entire Edgewater community, the event takes
place just north of Granville Avenue, situated among the streets, courtyards
and alleys surrounding St. Gertrude's Parish and its adjoining NCA School.
Given that St. Gertrude's alleys are actually wide sidewalk and driveway spaces
nestled between the parish’s gothic buildings and courtyards, the name GRalley
seemed true and exciting, a fun play on the festival's main artery and
Chicago's indispensable alley system, never before leveraged for a citywide
street festival.

Who sponsors the
event?
On a macro-level, the Edgewater Community sponsors this
event. We intend to bring visitors from throughout the city and nearby northern
suburbs to discover our vibrant community. Furthermore, our two aldermanic
offices: Patrick O'Connor and Harry Osterman as well as the Edgewater Community
Council (ECC) all enthusiastically support this worthwhile community event.
However, on a micro-level, we depend on the participation of
local businesses. Last year's event featured such sponsors as Uncommon Ground,
ALDI, Budweiser and Pumping Company, to name a few. Depending on the level of
the paid sponsorship, participants receive logo identification and mention on
our website, pre-press materials, pre-event signage, tickets, t-shirts, on-site
signage and stage presence. For more information, please contact our
Sponsorships on Sponsorship page.
Who Benefits from the
Proceeds?
The event is produced by St. Gertrude's Parish
in the Edgewater Community. Funds will be used for community-wide programming
and neighborhood-enhancing facility updates.
