Why is the Event Named The Edgewater GRalley?

This event, hosted by the entire Edgewater community, takes place along a 4 square block neighborhood along GRanville Ave.  Streets, courtyards and the alleys in and around the St. Gertrude Parish and adjoining NCA School will be used for this GReen event.  Though strongly identified with Chicago city living, Chicago’s alley system has never been expressly leveraged in the naming of a city-wide street festival.  Given that St. Gertrude’s “alleys” are actually wide sidewalk and driveway spaces nestled in between it’s gothic buildings and courtyards, the name “GRalley” seemed the most true and exciting name for the event.

Who Benefits from the Proceeds?

The event is being produced by St. Gertrude’s Parish in the Edgewater Community.  Funds will be used for neighborhood enhancing community-wide programming and facility updates.  We are fortunate to have the chairwoman and visionary behind the first ever Old Saint Patrick’s World’s Largest Block Party as a key member of this year’s leadership team.
